“Lu Trainanà” is a project dedicated to rediscovering and reviving the musical traditions of the Marche region, rooted in the rural era.
Our repertoire is, therefore, deeply connected to the land: village festivals, numerous ritual songs (cantamaggio, pasquella, passion…), serenades, ballads… But above all, the indispensable stornelli performed to the rhythm of the saltarello.
“Lu Trainanà” is not exactly a band, nor a musical group in the conventional sense, but rather the sum (in all its diversity) of individuals united by a shared passion for music and a deep love for a region rich in culture and traditions.
The group’s project can be seen as an authentic traditional ensemble that naturally evolved into producing music.
We’d love to tell you that our work is the result of a rigorous and constant study of the folk traditions from the Macerata-Fermo area, enriched by anthropo-socio-philosophical reflections on the role of folk culture today… But sorry to disappoint you—that’s not the case!
Our research method is a more traditional one: curiosity. We listen to our grandparents and attend old festivals—just for the fun of it—where the memory of peasant society still echoes, not only through the music but also in the proverbs, jokes, and a worldview where everyone has a defined and accepted social role.
The “Lu Trainanà” concert is a dive into the most genuine and real tradition, made up of primitive and archaic sounds, yet full of raw and passionate energy.
