Mancano ancora nove mesi al Gran Bal Trad 2025, eppure l’attesa è già palpabile. L’edizione del luglio 2024 si è conclusa da meno di tre mesi, ma l’Associazione Gran Bal Trad ha già lanciato l’invito per l’evento del prossimo anno, che si terrà dal 7 al 12 luglio 2025…
The 2025 edition of the Grand Bal Trad will be held from Monday, July 7 to Saturday, July 12, in the magical forest of Vialfrè!
On the website the countdown has started again, only 282 days left!
Music groups and dance teachers who wish to submit themselves for the next edition of the Festival can notify the programming managers by filling out the online form now open on the website.

This year, as every year, the unfailing Chacho Marchelli with the Piedmontese repertoire, and then Orquestrina Trama with Pyrenean and Catalan songs, and finally La Zöbia Mata with a repertoire from Brescia. You can find all the lyrics on the website!

As already mentioned, this year no more canteen but a new Dining Area! Many of you asked us for a change, and here we are with a new offer of food cooked fresh on the premises.
You will be able to freely compose your own menu, paying only for what you take, choosing between first course, main course, side dish, fruit and dessert. For a small increase there will thus be the possibility of managing the composition of one’s own meal and a marked improvement in quality.
Water will be free at the tap!
There will no longer be meal vouchers, but you will be able to pay with coupons valid for the bar, goffri and everything else.
The cafeteria will be open 24 hours a day with an expanded offer: a rich selection of ice creams, coffee cream, slushies. And as per tradition, the proloco will preparesandwiches, the unfailing, fantastic gofri cooked on the spot, and from this year also chips and apple fritters! A new delicious craft beer, the excellent erbaluce di Caluso (also on offer this year) and other local wines from Tenuta Roletto!
The shuttle service from the Ivrea railway station forecourt (near the taxi rank) to Vialfrè (and back) is free on Mondays and Sundays. On the other days it is at a reduced price upon reservation (call Edoardo: 3920978968). In addition, for the entire duration of the Festival, from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 19:00 to 3:30, a convenient shuttle service is offered free of charge from the car park at the entrance to the village to the Festival area and back. Let’s use the car less, let’s protect the environment!
We would like to remind everyone that online registration for the Association will close in a couple of weeks.
Hurry up to take advantage of the discounts on participation fees! In fact, if you register with the Association by 24/6 (online or also through the associations) you will be able to take advantage of a discount, up to about 25%, on the Festival participation fee! See you in Vialfrè?
Pagodas will be set up under the trees in the natural area of the Festival to host the fascinating world of violin making, which is increasingly represented in Vialfrè. Bagpipes, accordions, violins, hurdy-gurdies, fifes, flutes, guitars, mandolins… will be exhibited by master luthiers from leading Italian and French schools. Techniques for the construction, repair and maintenance of the instruments will be presented and there will also be the opportunity to try them out!
Once again this year there will be a pagoda hosting Rox Records, the record company of dance folk.
You will find publications (CDs and books) by all the Festival participants and music produced by Rox Records.
And then every day at 19:45 Music Aperitif with presentation of new CDs, live music and a dance before dinner!
Gran Bal Trad, ecco pronto il programma del Festival
L’edizione 2024 del Festival Internazionale di danze e musiche popolari – il Gran Bal Trad – in programma da lunedì 8 luglio a sabato 13 luglio prossimi, ha pronto il programma artistico. Gli organizzatori del grande evento internazionale del Canavese, con diverse migliaia di partecipanti, ospitato da due decenni nell’area naturalistica attrezzata della collina di Pianezze di Vialfrè, a poco più di un mese dall’appuntamento, hanno infatti diffuso la scaletta dei concerti serali, degli atelier di danza musicali e corali, e delle altre iniziative…

It’s not always possible to follow them all, but this year we really went all out! 🙂
Here are a few new features that will allow us to better experience the Festival:

– No more canteen but a completely reorganised refreshment area with on-site cooking and always fresh food.

– All while keeping the Festival participation fees unchanged!

But also culture! In fact, we have a rich programme of lectures this year, because the love for traditional folk music and dances also passes through the study and research of the historical contexts in which they developed and evolved.
In addition to being able to participate in the festival for free, the youngest (up to 15 years old) will find activities for them at the Gran Bal Trad: entertainment for the little ones and musical entertainment for the older ones!
